SHS Hall of Fame for Extraordinary Achievement

On Friday, 26 April, four Stoughton High School graduates were inducted into the Stoughton High School Hall of Fame for Extraordinary Achievement.  The Hall of Fame is a joint project of Stoughton High School and the Stoughton Historical Society.

This year's honorees are:

1966 Anthony E. Ferragamo

Graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology ñ registered architect in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire ñ specializes in civic, commercial and residential new construction and remodeling projects that are cost-effective and appropriate for the Cape Cod environment ñ featured in the Boston Globe, Cape Cod Times, Cape Cod Life Magazine and many other publications


1964 Admiral Thomas H. Collins

Graduate of the Coast Guard Academy ñ began career aboard the cutter VIGILANT - served as Commander, Pacific Area and Eleventh Coast Guard District where he developed a successful response to increased illegal drug and migrant smuggling traffic in the Eastern Pacific - assumed duties of Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard May 2002 ñ personally committed to making effective use of emerging technologies and developing innovative methods to improve Coast Guard mission performance 

1987 Lori (Giroux) McKenna

Mother of five children (16-1) ñaccomplished songwriter/musician  - played local coffee houses ñ latest release, Bittertown, is an ode to Stoughton ñ wrote Fireflies and others for Faith Hill - appeared on Oprah ñ receiving national acclaim as a songwriter but family comes first

1934 Roy H. Beaton

Lived in 14 states and 29 homes since receiving B.S. in chemical engineering from Northeastern ñ Worked on the top secret Manhattan Project ñ developed and produced nuclear weapon ìtriggersî for Department of Defense and unmanned weather, communications and orbiting observatory satellites for G.E. Space Center ñ General Manager of G.E. APOLLO Systems at Cape Kennedy ñ responsibilities included APOLLO spacecraft modules and launch vehicle stages, as well as total mission reliability ñ bestowed a $1,000,000 foundation for scholarships to Stoughton High School
