The West Elementary School has been selected as one of the thirty eight 2007 Commonwealth Compass Schools. The selection is based on student performance and improvement on the 2006 MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System).
The West School now boasts a Comprehensive Performance Index (CPI) above the state average in both English language arts and mathematics. In addition, the percentage of students performing in the Proficient and Advanced categories increased by 10 or more percentage points from Cycle III to Cycle IV and by five or more percentage points from Cycle II to Cycle III in both subject areas.
The West School principal, Mrs. Deborah Levitz, the Superintendent of Schools, and two West School staff members will join Governor Patrick and other legislators at the State House on February 5, 2007 for a Compass School Recognition Luncheon.
Congratulations to the students and staff of the West Elementary School!
