May 22, 2020 Update

Hey hey Stoughton!

Happy Friday! We have had some beautiful weather this week and I hope students and families have been able to take advantage of some time outside along with their schoolwork.

Speaking of the remote learning plan, we want to make sure that folks use the flexibility in the design to strike a good balance between assignments, projects, and recreation. If students are feeling overwhelmed, please reach out to your teacher(s) or principal and we will find ways to support you. We are looking at the week of June 8th as a chance to shift to more project-based activities as we transition to the summer.

Speaking of summer, we are working on plans for some type of summer programming for elementary, middle, and high school students. Stay tuned.

Food Distribution at OMS will be TUESDAY, Wednesday and Friday next week in recognition of Memorial Day.

Speaking of Memorial Day, I’d like to take a moment to thank our veterans, especially those fallen heroes who we remember on Monday.

Beginning this week, a Reopening Organizing Committee consisting of six sub-committees has begun work on plans for school in the fall. Teams are focused on Operations, Facilities, Wellness, Technology, Instruction, and Community Relations. Subcommittees are reporting to a Steering Committee which will ensure that community voices are heard.

We will be sending a separate email shortly with information on bus transportation for next year. Be on the lookout for that email with a link to the online application form.

I have been reading stories on Youtube since mid-March and there is now a fairly large collection of Super’s Stories at Six/Seven. I’ve organized them into The Super’s StoriesCollection, and invite you to choose a story and enjoy a read-aloud.

Please find here the Stoughton Public Library May Newsletter. Lots still happening virtually. May Library Virtual Newsletter.

Have a great weekend everyone! Have a safe and happy Memorial Day!
