Individualized Education Program (IEP) Process Information

The Stoughton Public Schools' Special Education Department is committed to providing every student with a free, appropriate public education allowing each student to achieve to his/her highest educational potential through access to the general education curriculum in the least restrictive environment.

Stoughton Public Schools provide services for students with special needs in accordance with the Federal Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and state (603 CMR 28.00) regulations. Stoughton Public Schools provides a continuum of special education services for students based on individual needs and Team recommendations.

These services may include, but are not limited to, specially designed instruction for academics, speech/language, occupational therapy, behavior, counseling, social skills, study skills and physical therapy. Teachers and specialists work collaboratively with parents/guardians of students identified as requiring special education services.

In order to provide the highest quality education and set high expectations for our students all input from staff and parents are considered in developing programming. We always welcome teacher and parent questions and concerns. High expectations for achievement are maintained throughout the district for all students including those with disabilities.

Special education services are designed to allow students with disabilities to participate in the general education setting to their maximum potential.
