Gibbons Elementary School Principal Search Update

The Stoughton Public Schools has officially started the search for an Interim Principal for the Gibbons Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. Outgoing Gibbons Principal Mr. Dave Guglia has accepted a principal position in another school district for the upcoming school year and will be leaving SPS at the end of the month.

Several factors led the District to determine that an interim appointment was the best option for the upcoming school year. Given the timing in the hiring cycle, an interim appointment allows the District to fill the position on a shortened timeline, ensuring the Gibbons has strong leadership in place for the start of the school year while also providing the flexibility to identify the best long-term fit.

The position was posted last week, with applications due Friday, July 24. Superintendent of Schools Ms. Juliette Miller and Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources & Wellness Mr. Matt Colantonio will conduct an initial screening of the applicants. The interview committee, composed of Gibbons parents, Gibbons staff, and District administrators, will interview candidates at the end of next week. Superintendent Miller will conduct a second round of interviews with finalists for the position during the first week of August. The District anticipates announcing who has been selected as the Interim Principal by the middle of August.
