We are pleased to announce that Ms. Grace Coleman-Burns has been appointed the interim Principal of the Gibbons Elementary School. Ms. Coleman-Burns joins the Gibbons community after two decades with the Boston Public Schools, including eight as a principal.
“Ms. Coleman-Burns brings an impressive combination of eight years of principal experience, extensive instructional leadership, and a deep commitment to creating inclusive, supportive, and academically engaging learning environments for all students,” Superintendent of Schools Ms. Juliette Miller said. “Her experience leading large school communities, using data to strengthen instruction, developing educators, and partnering with families and community organizations will be tremendous assets to the Gibbons.”
“I am extremely excited to begin this new journey with the Gibbons community!” Ms. Coleman-Burns said. “From everything I have read, learned, and felt throughout this process, it is clear to me that the Gibbons is a very special place - from the teachers who believe in their students, the families who support the school, and the students who bring their own strengths and personalities.”
Superintendent Miller said that Ms. Coleman-Burns, most importantly, understands that “successful schools are built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to student success.”
“I am confident that she will build on the many strengths of the Gibbons community while working collaboratively with students, staff, and families to continue moving the school forward,” Ms. Miller said.
Like many in the Gibbons community, Ms. Coleman-Burns is a big Patriots fan. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling and spending time in the Caribbean with her husband and their two children. “I enjoy making memories with my family, exploring new places, and, of course, cheering on the Pats,” she said.
As for the start of the school year, Ms. Coleman-Burns said she is looking forward to getting to know the staff, students, and families, while “listening, learning, and working together to make the Gibbons an even stronger place for our students.”
“I am excited for all that we will accomplish together!” Ms. Coleman-Burns said.
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Coleman-Burns to the Gibbons School!
